摘要: An efficient subband coding method for encoding monochrome and color images is presented. In this method, the spectrum of input image signal decomposed nonuniformly into seven bands. process lowest band DPCM (differential pulse-code modulation)-coded while higher bands are PCM-coded. The PCM quantizer designed such that it reduces subjective effect quantization noise, also helps in an transmission signals at low rates. For images, red (R), green (G), blue (B) components first transferred to luminance (Y) two chrominance (I.Q). Each component then separately narrowbands. higher-band corresponding retained coded separately, associated with I Q discarded. computer simulation results presented terms average b/pixel quality reconstructured pictures.
