Spurious clusters in granulometric data caused by logratio transformation

摘要: The logratio transformation aims to eliminate spurious correlations between components of compositional data. When applying this method granulometric data, there arise numerical problems with zero (empty) components. In paper, the replacement is examined using one natural and two simulated data sets. results show that generates clusters, thus it not appropriate for investigation grain-size in particular, general.
