摘要: Papiliocin is a 37-residue peptide isolated from the swallowtail butterfly Papilio xuthus. In this study, antifungal effects and mechanism of actions papiliocin were investigated. First all, was shown to exert fungicidal activity. To understand mechanism(s), propidium iodide influx into Candida albicans cells, induced by papiliocin, examined. The result indicated that perturbed disrupted fungal plasma membrane. Furthermore, calcein leakage large unilamellar vesicles rhodamine giant further confirmed visualized membrane-disruptive action in model membrane, respectively. summary, present study suggests exerts its activity membrane-active can be developed novel potent agents.
