摘要: There have recently been substantial developments in the theory and application of self-potential (SP) technique as it applies to sulphide other conductive mineralization. The present discussion evaluates significance these for execution interpretation SP surveys. Recent include new numerical techniques modelling phenomenon that incorporate more realistic double-layer sources take into account conductivity distribution earth. These suggest two main applications One concerns definition electrochemically induced source over boundary a mineralized region with known geometry electrical characteristics. conventional requires assumption distribution, so allows determination geometrical parameters body. ideas on variation electrochemical environment within earth mechanism generation mineral self-potentials may not necessarily require intersection body water table. In this case possibility exists deep bodies lying completely below table generate spontaneous potentials. This provides an interesting opportunity deeply weathered tropical terrains, where both resistive overburdens can combine make employing artificial fields problematical.
