摘要: We estimate here the age of one prototypes β Pic-like stars, Fomalhaut, based on properties its common proper motion companion Gl 879. By combining constraints derived from lithium abundance, rotational velocity, H-R diagram position, and coronal activity we conclude that for 879, hence is 200 ± 100 Myr. This agrees quite well with completely independent directly isochrone fitting to Fomalhaut's position in an diagram, thus confirms circumstellar dust disks can persist A stars several hundred megayears.
