摘要: Earlier research (Felton &: Kuhn, 1998) shows that adults use more advanced strategies of argumentive discourse than do adolescents. This research does not, however, establish the factors responsible for the development of more advanced strategies. The present study addresses three questions:(1) Does metacognitive reflection on the structure of argument improve argumentive strategies?(2) Do these changes occur independent of content knowledge or improvements in individual argumentive reasoning?(3) Do any changes transfer to new topics of argument?
