Different expression of human GFAP promoter-derived GFP in different subsets of astrocytes in the mouse brain

摘要: Abstract Transgenic mice expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP) under the control of human glial fibrillary acidic promoter (hGFAP) have been utilized for in vivo labeling astrocytes. Although it has considered that virtually all astrocytes express GFP this transgenic mouse, we found different subsets GFAP-expressing considerably levels adult brain. Astrocytes spinal cord, molecular layer thecerebellum, meninges, white matter, corpus callosum and blood vessels exhibited strong GFP, whereas associated with granule cells cerebellum dentate gyrus did not or only marginally GFP. We also a small subset GFP-expressing periglomeruli olfactory bulb GFAP immunoreactivity.
