摘要: Abstract Agricultural mechanization has often been associated with scale-effects and increased specialization. Such characterizations, however, fail to explain how may grow in Africa where production environments are heterogeneous even within a farm household, crop diversification help mitigating risks. Using panel data from households crop-specific costs Nigeria, we estimate the adoptions of animal traction or tractors affect economies scope (EOS) for rice, non-rice grains, legumes/seeds, which groups that most widely grown respect other crops. The inverse-probability-weighting method is used address potential endogeneity adoption combined primal- dual-models EOS estimation. results show these technologies greater between rice crops but lower among (i.e., crops). Mechanical raise more environments, though it under relatively similar agroecological conditions. To best our knowledge, this first paper shows effects mechanical on agriculture developing countries.
