摘要: Anaerobic methane fermentation has significant potential for treatment of industrial wastewaters. Application the process been limited, due in part to belief that cannot tolerate chronic and transient toxicity inherent many Experiments with cyanide, chloroform, formaldehyde, ammonium, nickel sulfide have shown methanogens ability recover from acclimate relatively high concentrations toxicants. The key is proper attention solids retention time. Of two general reactor types used biological waste treatment, attached growth systems offer major advantages over suspended treating wastewaters containing toxicants: (1) higher times at low hydraulic (2) a quasi plug-flow regime allows rapid elution For toxicity, plug-flow, system rapidly elute toxicants resulted dramatically reduced down when compared complete-mix, system. capability acclimation occur prior washout active biomass. Effluent recycle should allow more gradual exposure thus maximizing potential.
