摘要: Abstract We studied the distribution of As, Fe, Ca and Al in beach sands near-shore surface sediments along Brazilian coast from equatorial zone to Rio de Janeiro state. High concentrations As (up 120 mg kg −1 ) exceeding environmentally acceptable thresholds were found sediment several segments coast. That increased north south. The significant positive correlation ( R 2 = 0.58) between calcium carbonate corroborated hypothesis that calcareous bioclasts participate metalloid retention its accumulation sediments. Most likely, enrichment occurs oxic horizon caused by diagenetic redistribution various elements. Enrichment Bahia Espirito Santo states. is facilitated clastic material algae.
