摘要: High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is important in the evaluation of cochlear implant candidates. This study examines accuracy radiological assessment patency relation to findings at time surgery. Older and newer HRCT methods attending senior radiologist interpretations are compared a large series patients. Subjects were 50 adults (22 74 years) 31 children (2.4 11.7 who received either 3M/House or Nucleus 22-channel implant. Attending reports obtained by chart review scans re-reviewed for this radiologist. Accuracy detecting ossification ranged from 86.4 per cent radiologists, with all scans, 94.7 scans. False positives rare, but false negatives did occur. Overall, best results Knowledge presence extent surgeon patient counselling. Technical guidelines check list interpretation presented.
