摘要: Gossypol, a natural component of cottonseed meal, exists in positive (+) or negative (-) enantiomeric forms, and their levels ratio could be altered by developing new genetic strains cotton. Two experiments were conducted to determine the relative toxicity individual gossypol enantiomers laying broiler breeder hens. In first experiment, 25 individually caged Hy-Line W-36 forty-three-week-old hens fed standard corn-soy diet supplemented with either no at 200 400 mg/kg for 20 d (5 hens/treatment). second 15 Cobb 500 fast-feathering 44-wk-old corn-soy-wheat middlings 18 both experiments, feed intake, egg production, weight determined daily. All eggs opened scored yolk discoloration. At end several organ tissue samples collected analyses. addition (+)-gossypol reduced production. Only produced severe discoloration (score > = 4). Total intake was lower (P < 0.05) level compared other dietary treatments. contrast, consumed less (-)-gossypol. accumulation higher than (-)-gossypol, exception bile excreta. The results suggest that ingestion has greater effect on consumption
