摘要: Obesity is commonly associated with the development of insulin resistance and diabetes in humans rodents. Insulin are observed lipoatrophic individuals or rodent models lipoatrophy. Here we focus on role leptin, product obesity (ob) gene, We review reported effects leptin whole body glucose metabolism compare contrast these direct skeletal muscle, fat liver. This summary paradoxical observations homeostasis ability to induce improve suggests that a complex interplay exists between peripheral centrally mediated hormone. Evidence suggesting acts as mediator release from pancreatic beta cells reviewed. Finally, intracellular signaling mechanisms stimulated by both discussed, potential points cross-talk suggested.
