摘要: An integrated optical waveguide with a patterned cladding (60) defining an opening such that at least one side or end (32) of light transmissive element (13) is air clad. A method fabricating which comprises forming blocking layer (110) opaque to predetermined wavelength on portion substrate transparent wavelength; patterning core from above provide element; depositing upper layer, material curable by exposure (116), element, and/or uncovered substrate; irradiating said below cure those portions not positioned layer; and removing non-cured layer.
