摘要: India is uniquely positioned with regard to schistosomes and schistosomiasis—discovering seven new mammalian species the existence of three more schistosome species: Orientobilharzia turkestanicum, O. harinasutai, Schistosoma haematobium(?). An endemic focus urinary schistosomiasis was reported from Gimvi village Ratnagiri, Maharashtra infrequent occurrence eggs in human stools. Cercarial dermatitis has been be abundant rural population using ponds, tanks, so forth, for their domestic purposes. Few cases were tested positive by CHR. Schistosome antigen also detected urine five suggesting active India. Nevertheless, kind does not appear usual host Indian contrast S. haematobium, mansoni, or japonicum. Various reasons this phenomenon are discussed including evolution schistosomes, immune mechanisms, environmental conditions. These other aspects such as seasonal effect on prevalence, snail infectivity, heterologous mating, hybrids, number infections need further investigations application molecular techniques. Joint efforts national well international scientific community would much rewarding better understanding parasite infection.
