摘要: Background  Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a highly prevalent gastrointestinal disorder characterized by alterations in gastric motility. Yarrow (Achillea millefolium L., Fam Asteraceae) preparations are traditional remedies used to treat dyspeptic complaints. Herein, we investigated the effect of standardized dry water extract obtained from A. flowering tops (AME) on motility. Methods  The AME motility was evaluated resting tone isolated antrum and emptying vivo (phenol red meal method) both control mice model cancer chemotherapy (cisplatin)-induced abnormalities. Key Results  contracted mouse human strips this action unaffected hexamethonium tetrodotoxin, but strongly reduced atropine. Among various chemical ingredients yarrow, choline, not flavonoids rutin apigenin, mimicked AME. Furthermore, deprived choline did exert contractile effect. In vivo, stimulated cisplatin-treated mice, being more active pathological states. Conclusions & Inferences  It concluded that (i) exerts direct spasmogenic antrum; (ii) ingredient responsible such effect; (iii) prokinetic observed could provide pharmacological basis underlying its use treatment dyspepsia.
