摘要: Objective The aim was to compare the periodontal inflammatory conditions among habitual gutka chewers and betel quid (BQ) chewers. Material Methods Forty-five chewers, 45 BQ 50 non-chewers (controls) were included. Demographic data regarding age, gender, duration, frequency of gutka- BQ-chewing habits gingival bleeding collected using a questionnaire. Clinical parameters [plaque index (PI), on probing (BOP), depth (PD) clinical attachment loss (AL)] recorded. Marginal bone (MBL) measured digital panoramic radiographs. Group differences in tested univariate multivariable analyses (α < 5%). Results Periodontal [PI, BOP, PD (4–6 >6 mm), AL MBL] significantly high than controls. There no significant difference chewers. The odds for six times 13 higher respectively, compared Comparison did not increase bleeding. Conclusion Periodontal comparable chewers; which suggests that are equally susceptible disease.
