摘要: Background:  Both the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and Institute of health Clinical Excellence (NICE) have recommended increased training for professionals in communication skills. There is evidence to suggest that skills are important helping people change health-related behaviour, which a key role dietitians. This study investigated views UK dietitians about their needs experience relation dietetic practice. Methods:  In October 2007, cross-sectional survey was mailed all British Dietetic Association members (n = 6013). The gathered quantitative data free-text comments ascertain level, type effect received by at both pre- post-registration level. Results:  were 1158 respondents; response rate 19.3%. Ninety-eight percent (n = 1117) rated as either very or extremely client consultations. Post-registration had been undertaken 73% (n = 904). Of these, over 90% respondents perceived led improvements relationships with patients, confidence interviews ability cope challenging clients. However, 248 (21.4%) felt time keeping worsened. Lack also most commonly identified barrier (19%, n = 216) implementing skills. Conclusions:  has explored an under-researched area. Respondents strongly endorsed importance good benefits this Some consuming but others management improved. Further research required support implementation these into practice.
