摘要: Abstract The prevalence of candidal infection in lichen planus (LP) and its possible association with ulceration were independently examined two archived series 108 77 cases derived from separate populations. To ensure that similar material was being compared, each case histopathologically reassessed confirmed as LP or reclassified nonspecific lichenoid stomatitis (NSLS), dysplasia (LD), other (O). Three further sections, cut at 25 μm intervals, stained periodic acid-Schiff reagent for the identification intraepithelial pseudohyphae. As control specimens, 61 normal 59 hyperkeratotic mucosal samples similarly processed examined. Candidal found 17.4% 16.4% ulcerated nonulcerated cases, respectively, 40.0% 16.7% NSLS respectively. One LD infected. Each contained one infected case. results indicate occurs more readily NSLS, no apparent LP. comparatively marked increase cannot be statistically confirmed, significance remains uncertain.
