摘要: Hepatitis E, also known as epidemic, non-A, non-B hepatitis, is an acute, enteric, infectious disease. The disease usually mild, except in pregnant women, who suffer a high fatality rate from fulminant hepatic failure. Information on the Thailand limited. prevalence of antibodies to aetiological agent, hepatitis E virus (HEV), was therefore studied, various groups subjects several regions this country, using commercial ELISA for anti-HEV IgG and IgM. IgG, which 9%-22% adult (blood donors, patients with acute cases seen during outbreak hepatitis), increased age. It relatively low children adolescents Bangkok (3.6%) north-east (1.8%-6.2%) south (2.3%) country. Five (7%) 68 viral were tested IgM found positive. Although these five had jaundice (four cases), diarrhoea (three) and/or dark urine (at least four all clinical signs self-limiting no sequelae. Given apparently HEV infection young adults Thailand, control measures, including provision clean water supplies better personal sanitation food hygiene, should be implemented prevent epidemic
