摘要: Abstract Ecosystem-based management (EBM) has been widely accepted as the new paradigm to manage marine ecosystems. Although various efforts have made define key components, guidelines, and principles, in support of its implementation, there is still a gap between theory practice. To implement EBM, managers require decision-making framework which values constituents, objectives performance measures are consistent used evaluate choose alternatives. Structured (SDM) systematic approach that can contribute develop this for EBM. SDM was on-going EBM process on west coast Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. This case study provides insights into how be implemented well some challenges opportunities encountered during process.
