摘要: Abstract Earlier studies in this laboratory have shown that partial serotonergic (5-HT) deafferentation from the hippocampus induced a homotypic sprouting. The 5-HT-denervated was further found to be favorable environment for growth of grafted 5-HT, but not inrepinephrinergic neurons. In current study, we extracted trophic factor denervated with hypotonic solution high-speed supernatant fraction. extract assayed unique experimental paradigm — test 5-HT neurons cerebellum, which receives least innervation, and where seldom survived. diluted (1:200) produced dramatic increase (a) survival rate, (b) fiber-density, (c) 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acids lvels cerebellum. addition, Nissl-counterstaining showed size raphe also apparently increased. concentrated (1:1) did rate These results indicate contains potent neurotrophic can either directly or indirectly support non-5-HT neurons, possibly an inhibitory is present detrimental high concentration.
