摘要: Abstract The rates of synthesis and chain elongation RNA in stringent (CP 78) relaxed 79) strains Escherichia coli have been measured at 27° the presence absence a required amino acid. following observations made. 1. Although rate uptake uracil by CP 78 is reduced 200-fold acid starvation, obtained from specific activity intracellular UTP pool only 9-fold. 79 unaffected deprivation. 2. number nascent chains approximately same for 79, unchanged starvation. 3. are 23 3 nucleotides per sec unstarved starved cultures 78, respectively. virtually starvation: 24 21 cultures, 4. results inconsistent with purely "noncoordinate" mode regulation, suggest that both stable messenger restricted, although relative degree restriction on synthetic two classes cannot be evaluated these data.
