Study of the Homology between Silicon and Germanium by Thermal-Neutron Spectrometry

摘要: The phonon dispersion relations in silicon and germanium are found to be nearly homologous with small but significant deviations. These results, which have been obtained by thermal-neutron spectrometry, strongly supported an analysis comparison is made elastic constants, heat capacities, Raman frequencies for these elements. Previously observed discrepancies between results from shell-model calculations heat-capacity measurements explained. Attempts elucidate the origin of differences dimensionless group-IV $B$ elements diamond-type crystal structure.
