摘要: Benign breast disease (BBD) is an established risk factor for cancer among Caucasian women but less known about BBD in African American women. As suffer from disproportionate mortality due to cancer, special focus on pathologic characteristics that may influence warranted. biopsies were identified by the University Pathology Group (Detroit, MI). of ages 20 84 years, who underwent a biopsy 1997 2000, eligible study. Subsequent cancers through linkage with Detroit Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program. The first was reviewed pathologist, lesions classified following Dupont Page criteria along involution other histologic features. Logistic regression used estimate developing subsequent BBD. A total 1,406 included this study median follow-up 10.1 years. majority (68%) showed nonproliferative disease, 29% had proliferative without atypia, 3% atypia. incident occurred 55 (3.9%). Women whose atypia more than three-fold likely develop as compared [relative (RR) 3.29, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.21–8.93]. Better characterization BBD, considering both ethnicity detailed molecular findings, can lead better surveillance, earlier diagnosis, potentially improved survival.
