摘要: PURPOSE We determined if the Impact of Vision Impairment (IVI) is a valid questionnaire to measure vision-related quality life (VRQoL) in keratoconus patients, and investigated VRQoL varied with disease severity this sample. METHODS WE RECRUITED 160 CONSECUTIVE BILATERAL KERATOCONUS PATIENTS (MEAN AGE 23.3 YEARS, 63% MALE) FROM AN INDIAN TERTIARY EYE CARE CENTER. PARTICIPANTS UNDERWENT A CLINICAL EXAMINATION AND COMPLETED THE IVI. WERE DIVIDED INTO THREE GROUPS BASED ON AVERAGE OF STEEP KERATOMETRY (K) READINGS: mild (average Sim K 52 D). Rasch analysis was used validate IVI scores thus obtained were compared across groups. RESULTS MAJORITY (63%) HAD SEVERE, WHILE REMAINDER (37%) MODERATE KERATOCONUS. RASCH ANALYSIS DEMONSTRATED VALIDITY TO ASSESS VRQOL THROUGH TWO SUBSCALES: vision-specific functioning (VF) emotional well-being (EWB). There no significant difference VF (mean change -0.16, P = 0.55) EWB -0.32, 0.23) between moderate severe CONCLUSIONS The revised subscales have interval-level measurement properties, which support their suitability Patients or had similar, but higher as assessed by subscales, indicating lack impact on VRQoL. However, does not exclude possibility finding an other populations.
