摘要: American elderberries are commonly collected from wild plants for use as food and medicinal products. The degree of phytochemical variation amongst populations has not been established might affect the overall quality elderberry dietary supplements. three major flavonols identified in rutin, quercetin isoquercetin. Variation chlorogenic acid was determined 107 collections throughout eastern United States using an optimized high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection method. mean content 71.9 mg per 100g fresh weight ranging 7.0 to 209.7 100 g within population. Elderberries southeastern regions had significantly higher contents comparison those more northern regions. variability individual flavonol profiles berries complex likely influenced by multiple factors. Several outliers were based on unique average populations. This is first study determine inherent can be used identify potential new cultivars that may produce fruits or high-quality supplement industries.
