摘要: The US Centers for Disease Control initiated physician-based chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) surveillance systems in four cities September 1989 to determine the prevalence, incidence, course and impact of illness. participating physicians have referred our system 590 patients who were ill during first two years with severe, debilitating, unexplained at least preceding six months. Referred screened psychiatric disorders preceding, concurrent with, subsequent onset their by specially trained nurses using a modified Diagnostic Interview Schedule. Complete health histories obtained interview review medical records basic panel standard laboratory diagnostic tests conducted. Four independently reviewed information 337 classification. Approximately 26% met CFS case definition all regards, 14% lacked one or more required eight symptom criteria, 15% judged another possible known illness which could account severe fatigue, remaining 45% did not meet because fatigue. Minimum prevalence rates period 1 1991 ranged from 2.0 7.3 per 100,000 general population across study sites based on prorated data 4.6 11.3 100,000. More than 80% cases female, most white, average age was approximately 30 years.
