摘要: Abstract This analysis provides time-series data on electric efficiencies for 138 countries and regions, covering all fossil fuels the period 1971–2005, with an emphasis non-Organization Economic Cooperation Development (OECD) countries. Fossil fuel consumption electricity generation in non-OECD now exceeds that OECD. The historical performance of top five consumers each which reliable are available is presented discussed. For fuel, lead world efficiency used benchmarks; bringing rest up to these standards would result energy savings 26 EJ (equivalent 5% global consumption) CO 2 emissions reduction 2.1 Pg 8% emissions). Coal showed largest potential margin improvement both , possible equivalent 3% current emissions. gap between OECD over past 35 years has widened coal-fired generation, stayed relatively constant natural gas, but shrunk petroleum. results show very gradual nature overall improvements significant differences among regions
