摘要: Background —There have been conflicting reports concerning the use of cardia biopsies in screening patients for gastro-oesophageal disease. Aim —To define histopathological changes gastric with and without Methods —Topographically mapped biopsy specimens were obtained from disease controls. Biopsies scored on a visual analogue scale 0 to 5 Helicobacter pylori , intestinal metaplasia, pancreatic foveolar hyperplasia, active inflammation. The presence or absence cardiac glands was recorded. Results —Sixty five 71 controls examined. Intestinal metaplasia present 10 11 Only two had no evidence exposure H . not found those long segment Barrett9s oesophagus. Carditis strongly associated infection (p = 0.000) resolved after treatment infection. A negative association between 0.003). Pancreatic 15 65 hyperplasia 19 cases but neither related Conclusion —Intestinal is uncommon With chronic junction corpus expands cardia–corpal direction.
