Enhancing Germination of Eastern Gamagrass Seed with Stratification and Gibberellic Acid

摘要: Eastern gamagrass (Tripsacum dactyloides, L.), a warm season, perennial grass with great potential for forage and conservation uses, has high level of seed dormancy, making establishment difficult. Stratification at 4°C 6 wk is standard method providing germinable seed. Earlier research showed that gibberellic acid (GA 3 ) increased germinability caryopses removed from the cupule, but was less effective when remained in cupule. We hypothesized add together stratification may increase germination above levels obtained by or alone. This study assessed three lots eastern to 1 mM GA exposure 0 7 wk.
