摘要: Objective : The goal of this research was to identify familial and non-familial social factors influencing post-secondary students’ choices career in medicine. Method comparative study conducted Ajman, among medical students the beginning three years, non-medical at same educational level. After obtaining verbal consent, participants completed a pilot tested, self-administered questionnaire which included socio-demographic variables related choices. Result Among 135 students, two thirds were females 87.3% below 23 years age. Most fathers South Asians (53%); 80% had professional training; 48% business persons 12% worked field. mothers, 61.4% professionally trained, 67.2% engaged unskilled, semi-skilled or skilled labor. mostly Middle Eastern (83.5%), educated (56.3%) careers (52.9%); mothers primarily working occupations (61.4%) 38% attained level education. majority perceived their parents have strong influence on choice factors, ‘friends’ significantly weak choice. While more chose along with parents, most group made own. Conclusion Parents significant medicine friends influence. Career guidance programs should consider including process selection secondary
