摘要: Age represents a significant risk factor for the onset and progression of cardiovascular disease, with increase in life expectancy in developed countries going parallel increased incidence such pathologies. Treatment strategies alternative or additive to pharmacological treatments are needed. The relationship between aging progenitor cell-mediated repair is great interest. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) mediate mechanisms endothelial regeneration maintenance, but they subject to ageassociated changes affecting negatively their number and/or function. Aim this review examine impact age on EPC-mediated vascular repair, focus metabolic pathways involved and therapeutic targets potential attenuating effect.
