On the strength of shocked glasses

摘要: Shocked glasses suffer a particular failure mode in which they lose strength behind propagating front that is known as wave. The glass shows high strength, reduces after some time to lower value the passes. Such behaviour investigated using plate–impact loading experiments over range of stresses and three types. longitudinal lateral are measured embedded manganin stress gauges calculated normal way. from an open–structured, low–density material filled dense one. Even though heaviest twice density lightest, strengths follow universal curve for values ahead common silicate network suggested explanation this property.
