摘要: Abstract This paper presents the ‘MEFA toolbox’, which is designed to measure society–nature interaction. MEFA stands for ‘material and energy flow accounting’ refers a set of quantitative methods trace materials throughput societies in way that can be readily linked established socio-economic data sets on national sub-national level. Within framework, accounts material stocks flows land use its impact terrestrial ecosystems. Using Austria 1950–2000 as an empirical example, we demonstrate how tools used assess correlation physical monetary growth, discuss changes metabolism are related. We also outline some possible future research directions.
