A highly sensitive long period grating based tunable filter using a unique double-cladding layer structure

摘要: In this paper, we present a highly sensitive long period grating (LPG) with unique double-cladding layer structure including an ultra-thin inner silica cladding and low refractive index liquid crystal outer layer. By using (28 μm in diameter) reduced by chemical etching, the LPG has single resonant band over wide range of wavelength higher sensitivity to environmental change. addition, high thermal-optic effect makes it very easy tune controlling temperature crystal. Thus, tunable filter can be made. The experimental results show that tuning efficiency 2.1 nm/°C is achieved. To best our knowledge, highest ever reported.
