摘要: Some pharmaceutical products are capable of damaging the human auditory system. Technological progress has provided numerous resources to monitor hearing but there still is some controversy regarding selection most sensitive and specific tests. OBJECTIVE: analyze audiological procedures used in monitoring individuals exposed ototoxic medication. METHODS: we searched MEDLINE LILACS literature databases, using terms pertinent monitoring, ototoxicity cancer. The pertaining analysis identified two often worldwide for early detection lesions induced by drugs: high-frequency audiometry evoked otoacoustic emissions. Both allow identification disorders before changes seen conventional pure-tone and, consequently, speech understanding compromised. CONCLUSION: suggest a protocol, considering patient’s capability respond behavioral tests timing (first test/follow up). For cancer patients, should be performed treatment venue.
