摘要: The intervertebral disc is an important mechanical structure that allows range of motion the spinal column. Degeneration disc--incited by aging, traumatic insult, genetic predisposition, or other factors--is often defined functional and structural changes in tissue, including excessive breakdown extracellular matrix, increased cell senescence death, as well compromised biomechanical function tissue. Intervertebral degeneration strongly correlated with low back pain, which a highly prevalent costly condition, significantly contributing to loss productivity health care costs. Disc chronic, progressive current therapies are limited focused on symptomatic pain relief rather than curtailing progression disease. Inflammatory processes exacerbated cytokines tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) interleukin-1β (IL-1β) believed be key mediators pain. In this review, we describe contributions TNF-α IL-1β seen during at both cellular tissue level, new evidence suggesting link between infection spine emerging therapeutic modalities aimed combating these processes.
