Application of Effective Stress Model to Analysis of Liquefaction and Seismic Performance of an Earth Dam in China

摘要: Earthquake-induced liquefaction is one of the major causes catastrophic earth dam failure. In order to assess potential and analyze seismic performance an in Fujian, Southeastern China, situ shear wave velocity test was firstly carried out. Results indicate that gravelly filling a type liquefiable soil at present setting. Then effective stress model adopted thoroughly simulate response proposed earthquake. Numerical result generally coincides with empirical judgment based on test. Negative excess pore pressure developed upper part saturated positive lower part. The ratio increases depth until it reaches maximum value 0.45. displacement relatively small tolerable. show cannot reach fully liquefied state. overall stable under
