摘要: In an effort to describe the physique and body composition associated with performance of University level male track field athlete India, this study was conducted on 93 athletes from South comprised 22 sprinters (100 200 mts), mean age 19.5 years, height 172.1cm weight 68.2 kg, 20 middle distance runners (800 1500 19 166.8cm 62.5 16 long (5000 10000 18.7 167.2cm 62.1kg, throwers, (shot, discus hammer throw), 170.8cm 72.6 kg Jumpers (High, triple jump), 18.3 169.9cm, 64.1kg. Besides weight, six skinfolds (triceps, chest, subscapular, abdomen, suprailiac calf), two bicondylar breadths (humerus femur) girths (biceps calf) were measured. Somatotype evaluations made according Heath & Carter method. Percent fat assessed using equation prescribed by Berzerk et al. (1963). BMI calculated as mass divided square (kg/m 2 ). The somatochart indicated that are ectomorphic mesomorphs, mesomorph ectomorphs while throwers endomorphic mesomorphs. jumpers fell into somatotype category balanced Among all groups percentage is lowest in (6.23±.83%) highest (7.38±.85%). This reflected their components which (2.53±.0.45) (3.39±0.65). Ectomorphic component highly marked (3.56±0.65) mesomophy (4.31±0.91). Throwers have significantly higher values than other groups. Compared overseas counterparts, both events present exhibited greater values. data will serve a reference standard for anthropometry Indian athletes.
