摘要: The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a cytoplasmic and transcription factor activated through cognate ligand binding. It an important in immunity tissue homeostasis, structurally diverse compounds from the environment, diet, microbiome, host metabolism can induce AhR activity. Emerging evidence suggests that key sensor allowing immune cells to adapt environmental conditions changes activity have been associated with autoimmune disorders cancer. Furthermore, agonists or antagonists impact disease outcomes identifying as potentially actionable target for immunotherapy. In this review, we describe known ligands stimulating activity, downstream proinflammatory suppressive mechanisms potentiated by AhR, how understanding being applied immunopathology help control outcomes.
