How did you choose a mode of birth? Experiences of nulliparous women from Turkey

摘要: Abstract Background One of the most important decisions that women have to make after becoming pregnant concerns their mode birth, and these are influenced by complex physiological, psychological socio-cultural factors. Aim To obtain in-depth descriptions nulliparous women's experiences during decision-making process for birth reveal beliefs, attitudes values. Methods This is a qualitative, phenomenological study included 29 women. Data were collected using semi-structured, face-to-face interviews analysed constant comparison method guidelines developed Collaizi. Findings The placed into one four categories, “getting confused”, “no matter what happens”, “others influencing decisions” “make decision way or other”. Vaginal births considered under theme “natural but hard way” caesarean sections “easy choice”. indicated they wanted vaginal births, not offered knowledge support about modes from health care professionals and, as result, asked relatives support. Conclusion It preferences so knowledge, can be provided involved in process. Therefore, should understand birth.
