摘要: In order to understand the mechanical processes that influence deformation patterns of active rock glaciers, information about local horizontal and vertical deformations as well knowledge internal structure temperature distribution is necessary. Results from borehole measurements three sites in Swiss Alps show despite different structures, similar phenomena can be observed. contrast temperate permafrost within glaciers has distinct shear zones where differential movements are concentrated. addition, a reduction volume caused by compressive flow due presence air voids permafrost. The velocity depends on temperature, surface bedrock slopes glacier, composition ice-rich frozen ground. Within degrading permafrost, ice content decreases, creep increases zone rises towards surface, seasonal changes liquid water might also deformation. Copyright  2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
