摘要: The adult cochlear implant programme in Manchester was established 1988, initially using funding obtained from the HEAR (Help Ear and Allied Research: charity number: 519784) before government resources became available mid-1990s. first centre UK to multichannel devices on a regular basis. To date, over 250 adults have been implanted, including nine bilateral eight deaf-blind patients.(1) All patients postlingual onset of severe-profound hearing loss; 73% (n = 175) implants performed used Nucleus 24% 58) Medel implant. In addition, team has implanted three single channel devices, two Ineraid one Clarion High Focus II device. This study is retrospective analysis trends outcomes fitting during 14 years (1988-2002) programme. paper describes patient demographics audiological complications for 240 implantations 214 patients.
