摘要: The midline structures of 5 infant brains with occipital encephalocoeles were studied. Though all cases showed a uniform finding defect the bone herniated mass, extent bony defect, amount and nature tissues degree distortion intracranial varied markedly. Two multiple associated systemic malformations another case had an inverse cerebellum. In spite such marked variability in presentation, common findings herniation displacement mesencephalon roof diencephalon allowed us to postulate that primary is abnormality overlying developing brain. Initial subsequent movement rest brain as result growth determines present hernia sac at birth. Other theories genesis are discussed.
