摘要: Introduction: Currently, free-tissue transfers are commonly used for various reconstructive purposes in adults. However, there is a lack of large series free flap reconstruction children, especially oromandibular defects. Our study aims to share our experience free-flap some challenging pediatric cases. Materials and methods: Pediatric interventions (<18-year-old) that were performed between 2000 2006 clinic retrospectively evaluated. Eighteen 17 Epidemiologic data, etiology, defects, preferred flaps, results have been compared analyzed. Results: A total patients (18 flaps) Mean age was 10.4 years. The etiology tumor 11 cases, traffic accident 5 gunshot 1 case. Double-flap transfer one patient with devastating shotgun wound single others. 8 osseous 7 osteocutaneous 3 septocutaneous flaps transferred. Total superficial necrosis encountered (5.8%) while partial seen on two (11.7%). Sixteen the cases reconstructed, including three complications, resulted good functional cosmetic outcome. One case lost sixth postoperative month due septisemia during chemotherapy. All surviving 16 acquired bony fusion, mastication, speech addition results. Conclusion: increasing development better equipment, finer surgical technique, understanding unique characteristics In opinion, high success rates can be obtained if specific requirements procedures met. © 2008 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
