摘要: The structure of forests occurring within the north-western catchment river Gola in Kumaun Himalaya is quantitatively described. All forestt indicated a total four strata; two upper strata represented by trees, third stratum mainly shrubs, and fourth herbs. tree heighs theA 2 (top most) decreased with an increase altitude. On other hand, proportion trees devoted to canopy 1 andA increased In all forests, crowns were more deep than wide. general, shrub layer three oak was comparatively dense shrubs overlapped each other. index, relative measure coverage, layers maximum forQuercus floribunda forest minimum forPinus roxburghii forest. Further, cooler aspects developed greater index for these as compared warmer aspects. Oak exhibited poor development their herb layers. theQuercus lanuginosa weere stable, while inPinus they specially susceptible wind effect. general had stable showed lower stability. different types, presently studied, could be graded, follows, decreasing order potential soil protection:Quercus > Quercus leucotrichophora mixed >Pinus roxburghii.
