摘要: Abstract Signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism were noted in a patient receiving lithium carbonate for 2 years as prophylaxis against recurrence mania depression. When therapy was stopped, the resolved; but it recurred with administration potassium iodide. iodide discontinued, became euthyroid. In second chemical evidence (fall circulating thyroid hormone levels, elevation serum thyrotropin) after he had received 3 weeks therapy. With addition iodide, laboratory more pronounced, clinical signs developed. All abnormalities resolved promptly following withdrawal iodine. These observations suggest that iodine can act synergistically to produce combined use these agents should be avoided.
