摘要: The calcium sensing receptor (CaSR) is a robust promoter of differentiation in colonic epithelial cells and functions as tumor suppressor. Cancer that do not express CaSR (termed null) are highly malignant while acquisition expression these circumvents the phenotype. We hypothesize chemopreventive agents mediate their action through induction CaSR. Here, we compare effectiveness Ca2+, vitamin D, Aquamin (a marine algae product containing magnesium detectable levels 72 additional minerals) on CBS HCT116 human colon carcinoma cell lines corresponding null isolated from lines. All three agonists induced mRNA protein inhibited cellular proliferation parental cells. was found to be most potent this regard. Induction by resulted demethylation gene with concurrent increase reporter activity. However, per se did induce transcription. down-regulated inducers up-regulated suppressors. Again, biologic effects. This study provides rationale for use multi-mineral approach chemoprevention cancer suggests may measure agents. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
