摘要: Abstract The use of a packed bed reactor containing Ca-alginate immobilized Clostridium beijerinckii cells for continuous IBE (isopropanol-butanol-ethanol)-fermentation has been studied. Productivity was 3 to 4 times higher than that obtained in batch fermentation using free cells. Maximum duration column experiment 290 h. It clearly demonstrated can take place one-step process. A pH gradient the appeared not be necessary solvent production. Attempts increase ratio concentrations solvents biomass by changing less rich medium were unsuccessful. Fermentation activity seems directly coupled with cell growth. Practical difficulties prohibited prolonged fermenter. Therefore, this simple type appears suitable IBE-fermentation .
